Mound count is not a population count. Pocket gophers are territorial, and one animal can create many mounds while extending a tunnel system. An inspection should document fresh mounds and distinct active tunnel systems, then explain any population estimate and its limits.

What does gopher control cost?

There is no verified flat nationwide price. Quotes vary with fresh activity, tunnel spread, access, landscape or irrigation damage, treatment method, monitoring, and written follow-up terms. Confirm inspection charges and the full scope directly with each independent provider.

How fast can gophers reproduce?

Breeding timing and litter size vary by pocket-gopher species and region. Multiple fresh tunnel systems can indicate more than one territorial animal, but mound count alone is not a reliable population count. Ask an inspector to explain the field evidence.

Do sonic or ultrasonic gopher repellents work?

UC Integrated Pest Management reports that frightening devices such as vibrating stakes and ultrasonic devices have not been effective in research trials. How are active gopher tunnels identified?
